What the official numbers say about the US route
No government source publishes how many students go abroad from Andhra Pradesh. Asked for state-wise figures, the Ministry of External Affairs replied on 20 December 2024, in Lok Sabha Unstarred Question 4166, that state-wise and course-wise data on Indian students abroad is not available. Read any "students by state" ranking with that in mind.
The state's link to the United States is documented. The U.S. Consulate General in Hyderabad lists Andhra Pradesh in its consular district, with Telangana and Odisha, and EducationUSA India lists two advising centres for those three states, both in Hyderabad. The rise came from graduates staying on for OPT work; the graduate count fell by about 9.5 per cent, by our arithmetic. The field-of-study table puts 43.4 per cent of Indian students in math or computer science, 22.8 per cent in engineering and 11.3 per cent in business.

The state's own services for students going abroad
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has run the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRTS) since 2016, and it now works in a consultancy's territory. Its education division, Vidya Vahini, offers course counselling, university selection, scholarship and visa guidance, and pre-departure and post-arrival sessions, all free of charge, with risk management so that students enrol only in genuine, accredited universities.

It serves applicants from 15 districts in the Central, Southern Coastal and Rayalaseema regions, through Passport Seva Kendras in Vijayawada and Tirupati and 13 post office centres, among them Guntur, Nellore, Ongole, Kurnool, Anantapur and Chittoor. The renovated Vijayawada centre can take over 1,000 applications a day.
